Call 111 - When it is less urgent than 999

The community and home-visiting phlebotomy (blood testing) services in Waltham Forest are delivered by NELFT, the borough’s main community and mental health services provider.

The service, has an advance online appointment booking process, replaces the old walk-in appointment system.

The walk in service is still provided daily at all 3 clinics, there are 51 walk in slots each morning at each site and an additional 51 walk in slots daily at St James health centre each afternoon.  The walk in slots are given on a first come first serve basis and therefore it is advisable for patients to attend a clinic before 10am to obtain a slot for that day.

These patients will be able to access the same clinics as adult patients, and a parent or guardian will be able to pre-book an appointment for them using the new system once it is in place.

Children under the age of 10 requiring a blood test should be referred to the phlebotomy service at Whipps Cross Hospital in the outpatients department which runs on Tuesday and Thursdays only from 9.30am - 3.30pm.
